President's Message

Greetings to you all!

The Texas RNFA network had it's spring meeting in Dallas, March 22, 2008 at Pine Creek Medical Center.  There were 9 members and 1 guest present.
 
Minutes from the fall meeting in Austin were read and approved.  The treasurer's report was read by Connie Whites and approved.  It was noted we have 3 new members.  Welcome to our group.
 
At this point, I would like to offer CONGRATULATIONS to Tina Linsalata-treasurer-who just gave birth to twins.  We are glad to hear Mom and babies are doing fine.

Dawn Duncan reported that legislative efforts for RNFA medicare reimbursement is on going.  Burke Beau with RNFAPAC is working with NARNFA to obtain legislator support in Washington, DC.

RNFA's are being encouraged to develop educational programs for presentation @ AORN events.  At the AORN RNFA SA meeting in Anaheim, it was noted that 5 new programs had been submitted.
We have been working with AORN for the development of more RNFA related topics at educational events.

Surgical assistants

Nursing Legislative Agenda Coalition Meeting: 
April 26, 2008 to be held in Austin to discuss important nursing legislative issues we are facing.
 
Insurance issues:  Whether to be in network or out of network.
 
Our next meeting will be held in Austin either October 18th or 25th-depending upon the UT Football schedule.  We try to meet when they are playing out of town.  The site will be determined.  Please check this site for official notice.
 
The meeting was adjourned around 11:30 am.

AORN CONGRESS:
 
This Congress was absolutely excellent.  It was one of the best congresses I have ever attended.
I am happy to report the Principles-with changes in certain words or phrases-passed.
